Terms of Service
By joining There for You, you agree to these terms.
1. Friendship, not dating
2. Who can join
3. The ID check
- whether the ID is real and the selfie is the same person,
- whether your first name matches the name on your ID (if not, we use the name on your ID and keep your choice as “Like to be called”),
- whether your age group matches your birth date,
- whether your profile photo is the same person as your ID,
- the country that issued the ID and the country the check was done from.
We keep only those yes or no results, plus a one-way code made from your name and birth date, so one ID can only have one account and a removed member can't rejoin. We never keep your ID, the selfie video from the ID check, your birth date, address or Social Security number. Members 70 and older without a photo ID can use the other checks described on our Safety page.
4. Your photo
5. Safety recording
Every call is recorded on your device, encrypted and kept for up to 3 days. No one can access it unless someone on the call sends it with a report, so an administrator can review it.
Every video call, including group calls, is recorded, so our team can see what happened if someone reports a call. It's not optional: you agree to it on a separate screen before your first video call.
- Every video call is recorded, one-to-one and group calls alike. It's part of how we keep everyone safe, so it can't be turned off. Your phone or computer keeps the last 15 minutes of each call, with everyone in it, in a small, low-quality video.
- It stays on the device you used for the call, locked and encrypted as it records. No one can view it, not even you or anyone else on the call, even if a device is stolen.
- Only if someone on the call chooses to send it with a report can our admins unlock and review it. We share a recording outside our team only when the law requires it, for example a court order, or to report harm to a child.
- Anyone near you on camera or within earshot may be recorded too. Please tell them.
- Each recording is deleted after 3 days (at most your last 20 calls).
When you report a call, your recording of it goes with your report, unless you choose to leave it out. If someone reports you, we may ask you to send yours. Without a recording, we don't remove anyone over a call. An admin opens it only to review the report, and every opening is recorded. We use it to decide whether to warn, pause or remove an account. We share it outside our team only when the law requires it, for example a court order or a report of harm to a child, or in an emergency where someone may be seriously hurt. Without your agreement, you can still send messages, but you can't join video calls.
